The North Star Reading Program
The North Star Reading Program is an Initiative that connectswith individual students on a one-to-one basis. Our primary goal is to nurture literacy at our feeder schools. Working together, we can help ensure each student become a stronger reader.
Reginald A .Harris Program Director Personalized Learning InitiativeReginald Harris is our Educational Consultant and our Personalized Learning Coordinator. Personalized Learning in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools aims to develop the whole child and empower them to take ownership of their learning by providing them with multiple pathways to demonstrate mastery learning in order to be successful and productive 21st century citizens in an ever-changing world.

Microsoft & Lenovo App Development
Students had the opportunity to visit and tour Microsoft and learn about the many different trends in Information Technology. Throughout this experience students were able to inquire about potential IT pathways and the current IT marketplace. Globally Microsoft employs over 25,000 employees and often look for credentialed interns to learn how to work with multiple IT software.
The mobile app competition is part of the Lenovo Scholar Network, a partnership that the company and NAF created in 2015 to encourage greater interest among underserved high school students in STEM subjects while enabling them with entrepreneurial and technology skills needed to pursue careers in computer science, programming and engineering. Congratulations to Faith Gowen and Cody Gilliam for being selected as finalist for the Blue Diamond Award for their Lenovo Mobile APP: On The Run! Faith Gowen and Cody Gilliam participated in an intensive application development program sponsered by Lenovo using the MIT Center for Mobile Learning’s App Inventor, a web-based tool for creating Android apps, to build and test their apps on Lenovo devices.
